Founded in 1874 as the "St.Paul`s School" by Bishop Channing Moore Williams, a missionary bishop of the American Episcopal Church, Rikkyo University is one of the oldest private universities in Japan. It consists of 2 campuses, 10 colleges and 15 graduate schools with a student body of app. 20 000 students.
 
The Ikebukuro and Niiza campuses are with very convenient locations – near to train stations and offering an easy and quick access to any one of the popular spots in the whole metropolitan area.
 
Rikkyo University is known for its welcoming school environment. The student population is small compared to other universities, and there is active communication among faculty, staff, and students.
