Semester Study Abroad

Instead of placing all students in a few pre-selected options, the Study Abroad Office has 100+ study abroad programs in 50+ countries on our Approved List for your consideration. Each Trinity student is individually advised/ assisted in identifying and exploring programs on the approved list which take place during a Spring or Fall term, or even an Academic or Calendar Year.

The result is that every semester Trinity students can be found in countries around the world. Some participate in academic internships or field studies. Some are enrolled as visiting students in foreign universities, and others focus on learning a language while taking other classes in English. Where students study, what they are learning, and how they are experiencing the host country changes every semester as the students change. Where you study abroad is determined primarily by what you need to take to complete your degree requirements. Academic, personal and professional goals are also considered, of course. Some study abroad programs are designed to enroll students in at least some classes in a foreign university while providing additional support such as additional language classes. Others are Study Centers with American-style course offerings for students with specific needs or interests.

Many of these offer unique opportunities for:
  • Internships for Academic Credit
  • Field Study Programs
  • Intensive Language Study
  • Service Learning
  • Or a combination of some or all of these things
Typically, programs provide pre-departure materials/ assistance, an on-site orientation, guaranteed housing, language support at the appropriate level, academic and non-academic excursions, academic advising, assistance with registration, and emergency assistance and support in dealing with the unexpected.

New programs are being developed all the time. The Trinity Study Abroad Office considers new options every semester to bring students the best possible academic experiences abroad. However, it takes some time to research new programs so if you would like for us to consider a new program, your request must be made very early on as programs are reviewed only during the summer term by the Study Abroad International Programs Committee. Programs are screened and approved by the Committee to ensure that they meet the health and safety standards for programs abroad as well as standing up to the academic integrity that Trinity students demand. They offer wide geographic diversity and have classes appropriate to every major. Trinity maintains a special relationship with a select number of programs and institutions we feel offer special qualities and advantages for our students. More detailed information is available on these at their individual web-sites.
