Tour Highlights

Madrid
Our trip begins in Spain’s historic and beautiful capital, Madrid. This grand city is the headquarters of the Spanish Parliament and home to the Spanish Royal Family. We’ll walk down medieval streets, cross majestic squares and through 1,200 years of history. Our guided city tours will include the must-see sights: Puerto del Sol - the heart of modern Madrid; the lavish Royal Palace; the Prado with Europe’s top collection of paintings including Picasso’s masterpiece, Guernica; the Plaza Mayor, El Rastro, and more. You’ll have time on your own to visit Madrid’s elegant shops and experience the music, cafes and cuisine that makes it a world-class city.

We will take a day-trip to Avila - a city located in the rolling hill country northwest of Madrid. It’s best known for its intact medieval walls comprising eight monumental gates, 88 watchtowers and more than 2,500 turrets and is one of the best-preserved medieval bastions in Spain.

When we are enroute from Madrid to Valencia, we will make a stop in Toledo - one of the most important centers of European medieval history and incredibly well-preserved cultural wonder. We will enjoy a guided city tour and a meal to experience the area’s delicious cuisine.

Valencia
Next up is our visit to Spain’s third largest city, the Mediterranean port city of Valencia. Known as the “City of Arts and Sciences” as well as the city where “El Cid”, Spain’s national hero, fought against the Moors. In addition to having  time to enjoy Valencia’s beautiful beaches, we’ll tour the historic Old Quarter, Central Market, Museums, and taste Spain’s famous Paella a la Valenciana in the city where it was created.

Barcelona
Our next stop is in the unique and beautiful city of Barcelona. Located in the Catalunya region of northern Spain, Barcelona is one of the most exciting cities on the Mediterranean. Few European cities can offer the wide diversity of cultural experiences we will find in  Barcelona. Our guided city tours will include a visit to Antoni Gaudí’s most well-known architectural work - La Sagrada Familia cathedral, the Picasso Museum, the Barrio Gotico in the center of the Old City, Las Ramblas and the  amazing Mercat de La Boqueria food market as well as a sampling of some of the best seafood the Mediterranean has to offer.
